The Free Hanseatic city of Bremen is a journey through the centuries of the past. The eventful past of this more than 1200-year old town is proudly displayed in the market place - which is the historical core. Hospitality like olde-worlde inns, maritime pubs, lively street cafes and refined restaurants have a long tradition in the town. The maritime tradition is still maintained in Bremen's North. At the old harbour in Vegesack lie smart yachts and old 'luggers' at anchor.

Sights & Attractions
The ROLAND STATUE, a nearly 600 year-old symbol of justice and freedom lies next to the beautiful Town Hall, built in Gothic style with a fascinating facade and richly-decorated halls. The landmark of the own is the BREMER TOWN MUSICANS STATUE (a donkey-dog-cat-cock group) from internationally-reknowned fairytales, and the ST. PETRI CATHEDRAL, whose 98-metre high towers allow an amazing view over the town, is found there too.

The BOETTCHERSTREET, hosts museums, art collections, shops and restaurants in traditional brick architecture, whilst the SCHNOOR, with its houses squeezed tightly together and its crannies, passageways and lanes, is Bremen's oldest part and is imposing with a fascinating atmosphere. The largest and most popular museum of Bremen state, the GERMAN MARITIME MUSEUM in Bremerhaven, leaves a big impression of maritime culture, both past and present.

Surrounding Highlights
Boat Trips down the Weser towards the North Sea past harbours, romantic settlements and old ports to Bremerhaven. To the East lies the Lueneburg Heath, where the broom heath colours the area violet in late Summer or to Worpswede - an artist's village in the centre of the devil moor.

Maritim Hotel Bremen
Right in at the 'green heart' of Bremen, only a short walk from the city centre lies the MARIITM HOTEL with it's distinct atmosphere. The luxuriously furnished rooms, the a la carte Restaurant with it's beautiful view over the Buergerpark and the extraordinarily wide range of fitness and leisure facilities make this a perfect place to relax and recuperate.
